The basic SPMT system operates with at least one customer process, which could be performed by multiple equipment or inspection station types, but dedicated to only that process (e.g. lube, test).

The customer file traffic can be manual, networked, or handled by alternative software means (importing data from another source), but forwarded to the intermediate repository, which is controlled by a customer-configured buffering mechanism (diagram below) automatically, which, in turn, unties the production floor from SPMT’s analytical processing.

The customer teams up with SPMT specialists and supplies essential process-related information to be collected and monitored (file formats). The team members work closely together during the integration and deployment period until a knowledge-transfer process and customer training is considered satisfactory for further routine system usage.
